Meet Dhara and Keval
Dhara and Keval have known each other since they were young, as both families knew each other as friends. They are both close to their families and love spending time with them.
Dhara shared that Keval is one of the most caring people she knows. He has a massive heart, and this extends not just to her but also to the people who are important to her. One of the things she loves most about him is the relationships he has cultivated with her family, like her sister and best friends. He also makes me laugh like no one else can. He is really witty and creative and does funny voices and songs that she finds hilarious. She is always amazed by how easily he can speak to people and make friends. Dhara is comfortable in his presence and knows other people are, too, which she loves.
Keval shared that Dhara is an incredibly beautiful, kind and intelligent person. He could use many adjectives to describe her, but those three stick out. She’s always the person her friends will go to for advice in a tough time, and she has been his rock for the last 10 years. She’s fitted in seamlessly with his family, and watching her interact with my Nani (who has Alzheimer’s and only speaks Gujarati when Dhara doesn’t) is so heartwarming. She’s incredibly successful at everything she does, whether at work, trialling out a new dish or planning this wedding. Dhara is so smart that she just figures things out.
Planning the Ceremony
Planning this celebrant ceremony was an absolute pleasure as I have known Dhara since she was born. Her parents are very close to me and my family, so it was a blessing to have been asked and a challenge as I knew I had to get this right.
Once I received the answers to the questionnaire I sent them, I started to draft their ceremony. As a couple, they knew what they wanted to include and, importantly, what they did not want to include, which made the process easier.
They reviewed the draft and suggested some amendments, and then I gave them time to decide on the readings for their ceremony and who to choose to read them. I knew it was important to them both to get the correct readings and the right people. Once they had decided, they let me know, and I updated the ceremony, ready to deliver on their special day at the family home, a place I knew well.
What Made this Celebrant Wedding Ceremony Special
This ceremony was already special because I knew Dhara and her family. When I met Keval, he was so easy to work with and down to earth. I could see straightaway what a lovely couple they were.
The ceremony started with my husband Dhani playing guitar as guests settled into their seats. Then, Keval was waiting at the front, ready for the ceremony. My opening was followed by the bridal entrance with flower girls and bridesmaids, and then Dhara made her beautiful entrance, escorted by her dad. The look on Keval’s face was an absolute treasure of love.
I shared some words on the meaning of Love in a relationship, and then, throughout the ceremony, We had four readings, including one that I read. In between the readings, I shared their love story, how they met, and the proposal.
The personal vows they had written for each other and shared for the first time at the ceremony were beautiful. The couple, family, and guests shed tears of joy and laughter. Everyone present was engaged and truly there for the couple. Then followed the promises, ring exchange and my blessings to them both with a reminder of the meaning of marriage.
The couple then walked back up the aisle to “Signed Sealed Delivered, I’m Yours”, played and sung by Dhani.
This really was a special ceremony.
About the Venue
Testimonial
We were lucky enough to have Sonal be the celebrant for our civil wedding in July. Sonal was really lovely and easy to work with, and we really enjoyed the collaborative process of drafting the ceremony script together, having filled in detailed questions about our relationship.
The script was incredibly personal and unique, which all of our guests loved and commented on. Sonal has a great delivery and ability to make the audience feel engaged, with small touches of humour and lots of warmth. Her husband Dhani also set the perfect ambience on guitar and played our favourite songs at key moments! Overall, Sonal was absolutely amazing and key to making our ceremony as special as it was.
